new Delhi. Two researchers of Indian origin from the University of Cambridge, UK have come up with a new Mathematical model, which includes a completely nationwide lockdown for 49 days in India or periodically in two months. But there has been talk of continued lockdown with exemptions, which may be necessary to prevent the re-emergence of COVID-19 in India.
Shows a paper written by Ranjay Adhikari in collaboration with Rajesh Singh from the Department of Practical Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at the University That the 21-day lockdown imposed by the Government of India is unlikely to take effect and 'at the end of it the Kovid-19 will rise again.
This is perhaps the first model to assess the impact of social distance (social distancing) on the Kovid-19 epidemic in the country, which incorporates the age and social interaction structure of the Indian population.
The title of the paper is 'Age Structured Impact of Social Distancing on the Kovid-19 Epidemic in India'.
The study assesses their effectiveness with social distancing measures- absence in the workplace, school closures, lockdown and its duration.
Researchers used an age-structured SIR model with social interaction matrices derived from surveys and Bejan Imputations to study the rise of the Kovid-19 epidemic in India.
The authors wrote, "Structures of social interaction severely determine the spread of infection and, in the absence of vaccines, control of these structures through large-scale social distance measures appears to be the most effective means of mitigation."
The lockdown has been imposed for 21 days from midnight of 24 March to prevent the spread of corona in India.
